Job Overview:

CIMMYT is seeking a highly motivated, proactive, and service-oriented professional for the position of Post-Doctoral Fellow in Wheat Rust Pathology, Molecular Genetics, and Breeding to contribute to our Global Wheat Program.

Specific duties of Post Doctoral Fellow Jobs in Mexico:

• Coordinate and supervise rust screening and phenotyping operations in field and greenhouse nurseries throughout CIMMYT research stations in Mexico.
• Examine genetic and phenotypic datasets to elucidate the genetic architecture of complex rust resistance traits, employing methods such as QTL mapping, GWAS, and genomic prediction.
• Collaborate with CIMMYT colleagues in Kenya by providing support for data administration and contributing to continental efforts in rust surveillance and characterization.
• Perform race-typing procedures and assist in the annual rust surveillance and reporting efforts.
• Assist bread wheat, durum, and pre-breeding initiatives by offering expert technical guidance on rust resistance evaluation and disease control strategies.
• Disseminate research findings through publication in peer-reviewed journals and present results within collaborative networks and scientific conferences.
• Enhance both domestic and global collaborations and support efforts in capacity development.
• Travel to CIMMYT Mexico field sites and participate in occasional international travel to Kenya and partner institutions as necessary.
