Job Overview:
We are seeking a Head of Finance / Finance Controller for a permanent position within the Accounting & Finance Department at the International Vaccine Institute in Seoul, Korea.
This position is responsible for assuring the efficient operation of the Finance department and the protection of assets in accordance with established guidelines at IVI. The position is responsible for providing support and reporting on financial matters to senior management and the Board of Trustees, as directed by the Deputy Director General of Finance & Operations.
Responsibilities of Finance Controller Jobs in Korea:
1. Ensure Accurate Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Coordinate the monthly closing procedures to ensure timely completion and communicate any issues to the COO.
- Oversee the financial capabilities within IVI, ensuring robust financial controls and accurate reporting in strict accordance with US GAAP and donor stipulations.
- Manage external audits in collaboration with audit firms and donors/agencies to ensure unqualified audit opinions.
- Ensure complete adherence to relevant Korean and United States regulations concerning finance, reporting, taxation, and insurance.
- Develop comprehensive financial forecasts on a regular basis, encompassing updates related to programs, projects, and primary activities.
- Manage institutional financial risks by detecting deviations from the plan and recommending appropriate corrective measures.
- Offer financial oversight and guidance to ensure IVI’s fundamental cost structure remains aligned with the established objectives in accordance with policy.
- Establish comprehensive treasury policies to secure cash reserves, comply with donor specifications, and effectively mitigate risk exposures. Oversee financial and taxation affairs.
- Establish a robust internal financial control framework by delivering precise guidance and prompt information to DDG F&O regarding risks or issues, along with suggested remediation strategies.
2. Develop strategic financial plan
- Oversee the financial planning process for IVI, encompassing departmental and project evaluations, consolidation, and analysis, culminating in the preparation of the final Board Financial presentation documents.
- Oversee and support the execution of strategic financial strategies as authorized by the Board of Trustees.
- Provide strategic guidance to the senior administrators of IVI on financial affairs.
3. Liaise with external and internal stakeholders in financial aspect
- Ensure comprehensive financial support to facilitate reporting to all funders, including state agencies in Korea, Sweden, and India. Assist with Ad Hoc Audits (donors, funders, etc.)
- Collaborate and engage constructively with other functional leaders and relevant stakeholders to effectively oversee IVI performance and achieve financial objectives.
- Offer ad hoc financial assistance to DDG F&O/COO as necessary.
4. Lead and manage an effective Finance environment
- Develop, oversee, and inspire a highly competent, professional team characterized by a collaborative attitude and constructive behaviors.
- Ongoing enhancement of financial processes and systems to guarantee precision and operational efficiency
- Offer guidance, mentoring, and training to financial personnel as well as the project administration team to facilitate smooth collaboration.
- Develop and enhance the Financial Onboarding Training program.
