The Air Transport Bureau (ATB)’s Climate Change Section (CC) is dedicated to the creation of policies, studies, and guidance that will mitigate aviation’s effect on climate change. Among the most significant initiatives are the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA), Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), and other market-based measures (MBMs).

Additionally, the CC Section provides support to the Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection (CAEP), the Climate and Environment Committee (CEC), and the Assembly, Council, and the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Some of the responsibilities include the management of the CORSIA Central Registry (CCR), the provision of guidance on aircraft CO2 emissions, and the maintenance of Annex 16 to the Chicago Convention Volume IV.

Responsibilities of Environment Consultant Jobs in Canada:

The Chief, Climate Change (C/CC) will supervise the Environment Consultant, who will report to the Environment Officer, Market-Based Measures-Registries. The following are considered core responsibilities:

CORSIA Central Registry (CCR) Management

  • Operate, develop, and update the CCR in accordance with the CORSIA SARPs.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses of CCR data.
  • Develop low-code applications and structured databases to facilitate monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV).
  • Collaborate with external vendors to guarantee the efficient administration of the system.

CORSIA Database Development

  • Develop low-code solutions and cloud-based workflows to enhance databases.
  • Guarantee compatibility with other ICAO databases and applications.
  • Enhance user interfaces in accordance with user needs.
  • Collaborate with other ICAO sections to develop, store, and provide databases.
  • Develop queries and dashboards for data visualization.

Data Visualization & Reporting

  • For the purpose of analysis, integrate CCR, CORSIA data, ICAO CORSIA CERT, and other ICAO tools.
  • Assist in the development of technical documentation and internal procedures for data visualization.
  • Develop presentations and reports that are contingent upon the successful implementation of CORSIA.

Capacity Building & Training

  • Assist in the coordination of seminars or workshops on CORSIA at the headquarters and regional levels.
  • Create practical guidelines, outreach packages, and training materials.
  • Address inquiries from external users of the CCR.
  • Assist in the instruction of ICAO staff on the CORSIA databases.

Documentation & Research

  • Formulate technical reports, summaries, policy briefs, and presentations.
  • Ensuring the functionality of the ICAO’s environmental instruments and websites.
  • Assist in the compilation of content and research for ICAO Environmental publications.
