We are seeking a Researcher for a two-year, renewable, full-time position within the Immunoepidemiology Department at the International Vaccine Institute in Seoul, Korea.
The incumbent in this role is responsible for facilitating the effective and efficient execution of the programmatic components of research projects and ensuring that all programs comply with the highest scientific and ethical standards.
Roles and Responsibilities of Immunoepidemiology Researcher Jobs in Korea:
1. Support conduct of research projects
- Offer scientific guidance to the principal investigator and project team regarding study design and the development of study protocols, data collection forms, as well as standard operating procedures and good clinical practice protocols.
- Provide scientific and technical expertise as the program-specific focal point for designated study sites and activities, overseeing their implementation and execution in coordination with the IVI project team and site collaborators.
- Collaborate closely with local partners, physicians, and health professionals to ensure that measures and actions derived from IVI’s initiatives align with international standards and effectively serve the best interests of the patient.
- Evaluate national needs and opportunities for diagnosing, treating, and reporting/responding to infectious diseases to facilitate assistance related to project activities, and enhance the capacity of local healthcare personnel, including medical doctors and paramedical staff, through training in communicable disease diagnostics, treatment, and surveillance.
- Continuous review of program-related and site-specific documents, including protocols, informed consent forms, study documentation, and scientific as well as financial reports. Additionally, conducting site visits to evaluate program progress, offer feedback and training, troubleshoot scientific and technical challenges, and ensure capacity building and adherence to project activities.
2. Scientific analyses of data
- Assist in the analysis and interpretation of generated project data and their implications for the national and international scientific communities in formulating recommendations for the control and prevention of infectious diseases in developing countries.
- Assist in the preparation, development, and dissemination of research manuscripts
- Stay informed by reviewing specialist literature and analyzing data published by other research groups.
3. Advocacy and planning
- Assist the principal investigator and project team in presenting findings to their respective audiences and facilitating health policy modifications across various levels.
- Assist in the formulation and advancement of scientific agendas and presentations for seminars, training sessions, and international scientific meetings or conferences.
- Participate in project-related meetings and conferences as necessary to stay informed.
- Promote collaboration among IVI, United Nations agencies, non-governmental organizations, corporations, and national ministries
4. Seek and support new funding opportunities
- Assist in securing public and private funding to facilitate the long-term self-sustainability of programs.
- Assist with grant proposal development as required
Job requirements and qualifications:
Educational Qualifications
- M.P.H. or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
(Medical-laboratory science, Public Health, Epidemiology)
Relevant Field Experience
- 3+ years with Master’s degree; 5+ years with Bachelor’s degree
